When creating a new product by duplicating an old one, the process also copies over the product’s metafields, including the price history field. To ensure accurate price tracking, you need to delete the old product’s price history from the new product and its variants.

Why it matters

Each product’s price history is used to calculate its omnibus price. If the price history from the old product is transferred to the new product, it will result in incorrect omnibus price calculations. To prevent this issue, you must remove the outdated price history from the new product’s variants.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Find the new product that was created by duplicating the old one.

  2. Click on the product to open its details.

  3. In the product details page, locate the 'Variants' section. This section lists all the variants associated with the product.

  4. For each variant, you need to delete the Price history metafield. Click on a variant to view its specific details.

  5. Within the variant’s detail view, click "view all" in the 'Metafields' section. Then find the metafield called Price history.

  6. Click on the box with the Price history information, scroll down, and select the option to clear. This will delete the price history.

  7. Save changes.

Note: you must repeat the process for each variant in the product.
